To provide the high availability, high redundancy, and high performance required for Ethernet networks in the oil and gas industry, network switches with a redundant ring protocol are recommended.

In case of a link failure, these switches reroute traffic almost instantaneously in less than 30 milliseconds without losing data packets. Spanning Tree Protocol provides additional resiliency. These switches are often used for aggregating data to controllers and sensors.

Applications

Multiple hardened Ethernet switch models are available depending on the application and environment. Choose the explosion-proof, intrinsically safe, or purged/pressurised models for use in areas with potentially explosive gases and vapors.

Some models feature PoE/PoE+ ports for connecting security cameras, wireless access points, and other PoE equipment. All withstand extreme temperatures of -40° to +75°C and come in IP30- or IP31-rated enclosures.
